The new schools will incorporate standards-based curricula and utilize innovative educational approaches like interdisciplinary study, project-based instruction, and real-world experiences. Teachers in these schools are integral to the planning and design of school curricula. Schools will also have close partnerships with community-based and non-profit organizations that will assist in the planning, development, and ongoing support of the schools. New schools usually open with only one grade and phase-in an additional grade each year.
These new schools need teachers in many different content areas. The schools are seeking highly qualified, creative, thoughtful individuals, fully in accord with the vision and mission of the specific schools, aware of the energy required to create a new school, and committed to the belief that every student can learn and succeed. Staff will be selected in accord with all contractual provisions with the United Federation of Teachers.
How to Apply
Please note that if you are not a current New York City Department of Education employee, and are seeking employment for September, you must also complete an online application at TeachNYC in order to be considered for these schools as well as for any positions in the NYC Department of Education.
Thank you for your interest in and support of the New York City Schools.
